And thanks Nico. It is a pretty rifle. I forget how many coats of oil I've rubbed into that stock. Dozens. I wish I'd taken some 'before' photos of the wood, before I cleaned it and refinished it. It is USGI but it was ugly when I got it. I figured what the heck, I couldn't make it worse. Ended up being a pretty piece of wood under all the dents and crud

I bought one of the CMP's Bavarian Forestry Police Carbines, and it had a varnish on it that looked absolutely awful. But a good dose of Citristrip, then coat after coat of BLO, and it almost looks brand new. It's amazing what kind of wood you'll find under 50-60 years of caked-on ugly, eh?...
