I started a project at the beginning of the Christmas holydays. I am bringing my Dads old Springfield 03 A3 back up to serviceable condition. The family planed a day at the range so I got the barrel blued and put everything back together and off we went to the range. The first thing I see on this rifle, or should I say “don’t see” is a recoil pad. Well thankfully its first shot at 50 yrds was within 3 in.s of POA so we had it zeroed pretty quickly. Due to the setup at the range I was unable to get a good wield on the rifle so I didn’t really have it pulled back tightly into my shoulder. I fired maybe 7 rounds through the thing and it about beat me to death.
So I find myself looking for a good recoil pad for this rifle. I’m thinking something that actually mounts to the stock. Anyone have any suggestions? Is any one brand or type better than the rest?
