Load question?

What would be an appropriate load for a 158 grain cast bullet on Hodgon H414 powder shot out of a styer stuzan carbine in 8x56 rimmed hungarian. I am thinking around 40 grains. Would this be adequate?

You never mentioned what caliber which is important. Also you may want to check out a program called Quick Load. Your best bet would be to just follow a loading manual.

It is the 8x65 rimmed hungarian round and both of my manuals have no load data.

Here's a site with load data for your 8X56R, but no loads for H414 or 158 gr cast. If that is the bullet you want to use, get some Trail Boss powder. Otherwise, get the right bullets and powder and follow someone else's trail.
