I will start off with mine, made in 1928, it is a Takedown model chambered in 30-30, been in my family for over 50 years, it has not been pampered and has been on countless deer and hog hunts, it is a little battered and bruised but still hits anything I can see.
I consider the 99 one of the finest lever actions ever built.

I'm in the process of buying this one . It's a 250-3000 ( 250 Savage ) made in 1918-ish . It's had a heck of a life . It is very beat up but I'll be taking it to a gunsmith soon to make sure it's safe to shoot . I then plan to put it to work .

Here is one. It is a .303 TD and I made a 7-30 Waters spare barrel for it. I believe the original .303 barrel was cut down, as the front sight is wrong. The stock was cracked at the tang and I made a new one. I made special swivels so I could use quick detach clips. Makes it easier to break down and throw in your pack to drag a deer out. I have used both barrels to take deer, although the 7-30 is getting hard to get reloading components for.

Here's my Savage 99 in .300 Savage. Shot this target off the porch rail at 100 yds...it's a hellofa deer rifle! Built in 1957 it sports a 60's vintage Weaver K4. Rod

I bought my 99 Savage in 1971 and it has toppled scores of animals for me. Current scope is a Simmons Pro Hunter with 2-7X settings.

First, that pic doesn't look like "Agent 99"!

Second (and most important), a Savage 99 is on my bucket list of vintage lever guns to obtain. 4 or 5 decades ago, I was not attracted to the Savage lever, but today, find it to be one of the most attractive styles.

Another rifle on that list is a Marlin 336, something in an early 60's vintage. For both guns, caliber is of lesser importance than it being a caliber that is a fun caliber to develop loads for.

I converted a 6mmPPC benchrest take off barrel to 6mmBR for my $175 1917 Sav 99 250-3000 take down.
I drilled and tapped for a scope.
Shooting single shot, it is accurate.
I shot two groups; 0.1" 3 shots at 50y and 0.3" 3 shots at 100y
