Lead and Jacketed

Can someone educate as to why, when I'm shooting .44 lead out of my Model 29, it smokes way more than .44 Jacked out of my Desert Eagle. Same powder, as example Blue Dot, way more smoke out the end of the 29. I can't imagine what would cause this. Is it actually some lead that is discinigrating along with the powder? I can't shoot lead out of the DE because it will plug the gas port but I did try a couple of jacketed rounds out of the 29 and it smoked as much as the lead rounds.

Oddly enough, all my lead rounds out of the 29 smoke considerably. I loaded Blue Dot, AA9, Trail Boss, and Universal. All smoked pretty good.

I don't ever notice any smoke out of the Eagle, only flash.

I do load the 29 with lighter loads than the Eagle, that may have a bearing.

?????

Thanks.

Try using Unique powder with cast bullets with that soft yellowi lube. I had people asking me if I was shooting black powder.

Win 231 and cast bullets with the hard blue lube is a lot better as far as smoke goes in my .40, 9, and .45.

But leaving a cloud of smoke after shooting a 20 round IDPA stage has a lot of cool effect.
