I haver a early 50's K22 with factory target grips and a target hammer. My problem is I have a couple of gold boxes but they do not fit the target gripped K at all. Was there another box for these target gripped models or what? I love the revolver but I am very curious just how they were packed.

The reason that your gun doesn't fit the box wearing the target grips, is that they never came from the factory with them until much later. Early on they were purchased separately and installed after the gun left the factory.

If you ship it to me, I would be happy to put it on a regular diet to try to get it to fit in the box.
