With the popularity of the .45 and the military looking at bringing it back, why has Beretta not made a .45acp variant of the M9? They made a .40, so why not try it in .45?

I'm not so sure about that. Why design a 92FS in .45 when they already have the Px4? Wouldn't they just enter that in any contest?

Because a .45 ACP cartridge won't fit.

I really doubt the military will go back to the .45 on any large scale. One of the reason for the 9mm is worldwide availability of ammo.All NATO countries pretty much use the same calibers for a reason.
