Just Installed The Ruger BX Trigger In My 10/22

I did a lot of research on drop-in triggers for my new 10/22 Sporter, and finally decided to go with the Ruger BX. For a guy who's not a gunsmith and didn't want to screw up my new rifle, the Ruger BX appeared to be a simple task, and it was. Also I liked the idea of buying a Ruger product for a Ruger rifle.

So, it was a snap. Literally. Or a drop. Removed the stock screw and pushed out the trigger group retaining pins. Almost too easy. I felt a bit silly having worried about doing the "job".

I read the instructions carefully and took my time. The BX seems made very well, and that 2 1/2 pound pull is sweet compared to the previous 6, and there's almost no slack in the trigger.

Anyhoo, I'm very pleased with it, as well as paying about 1/3 of what a Kidd costs.

Good to hear !!!

I do not mention this to folks, up front as I don't want to insult any one. .. :)

By chance, while you were in there, did you replace the bolt-stop with a buffer? Worth every penny. .... ;)

I've always been critical of why Ruger does not make a Poly buffer and auto return, as standard issue. Would cost less to make than what is "now" OEM .....

You used the word "got", not me. What's your point? Great site you have there. What it is, I have no idea. You sniffing too much of that clean, Montana air? :)
BTW, where in Montana? I've got roots in Stevensville. My great-great grandfather lived in log cabin where it still stands in their park museum grounds. Also the same cabin my late grandfather was born in.

Well done. Yes, it's a relatively simple job which yields outstanding results!
Thanks! Do you have the same, and how does it run for you? Critics don't concern me, because, well, as we used to say in the military, opinions are like...
Plus, Ruger will take the part back if I don't like it, no questions asked.

Just checked it out...Bolt release plate, right? Allows you to release the bolt by simply pulling back on the bolt then releasing?

Love it. Yep...that's gonna be next! Thanks again.

Congrats on getting it done.

I have one BX trigger (red, no less), I bought it to complete a project begun with only a bare receiver.

They are indeed an improvement over Ruger's basic trigger, and worth the money in that you get a complete assembly for your dollar.

Thanks. Looking forward to taking it for a test run.

Are you talking about my signature line?

It's a link to a video that provides basic, easy to understand procedures on posting in a forum such as this one. It leans heavy on satire.

I never did say you used that quoted word. Hence, it's in my signature line as a personal thought. During the Obama years, it was part of a catch-phrase that was used by just about every single English speaking person on the planet soooo often that I wanted to figuratively jab an ice pick down my ear canals in order to save my sanity. It didn't make matters any better hearing Obama use it incessantly.

Stevensville is about an hour south. I'm a little over 20min north of Missoula in a tiny town of Arlee. 45min south of Flathead Lake on the reservation. The Dancing Boy Mountain is just past my back yard.

The BX trigger is a good deal. I don't know about a plastic buffer. Why did Ruger decide to use steel???? The bolt release mod is a good one, DIY for free.
Back to the buffer, plastic will eventually break, may be why Ruger uses steel.

I've read that the steel rod interacts with the cutout in the rear of the bolt to change the direction of travel in the bolt near the end of its rearward travel, so that rather than the aluminum receiver taking a straight rearward impact, the impact is partially redirected vertically.

I have a soft polymer rod in mine just because I prefer it acoustically.

Congrats on doing the "job". I like doing little swaps and changes to make my guns tailored to my liking. I just wish that Ruger would ship all their rifles with this trigger setup already installed as the standard trigger.
