Just GO

Take whatever gun and gear you have and go.
Start now.

Most handgun games are NOT about the gun; they are about the shooting.

Fancy crap NOT required.

Only complaint heard (frankly, from everyone): "Wish I'd started sooner".

I love shooting IDPA and GSSF. I'm going to look for some matches where I'll be shooting more steel this year.

Been shooting IDPA for seven months, just completed my second classifier course. With a pretty good deal of work and practice I have shaved 45 seconds off of my first classifier (ranked Marksman my first time, missed sharpshooter this time by .3 seconds).

Really opened my eyes to the other components of shooting that are as important, if not more, than pulling the trigger like drawing, reloading, and the ability to shoot to an area of a target instead of an X ring.

IPSC made me drop other hobbies, and I only shoot production (usually with the gun I carry everyday). I even shot it with my P232 for fun (3 mag changes + european heel type mag release = bad time/score). Its all about fun. It is also a lot better self defense practice than just shooting at a "+" for accuracy without a draw, mag change, or rapid fire.
