J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co. shotgun disassembly help needed

Greetings:

I acquired a J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co. shotgun, with Browning patent dates of 1905 and 1907, and I haven't figured out how to take it apart. It appears to be a 16 gauge shotgun. (I also need to figure out the model number and whether it's safe to fire.)

I can manually turn the magazine to expose threads where the magazine mates to the receiver, but I have yet to figure out how to disengage the bolt from the slide(correct term?). I know that once disengaged and the slide is moved safely away and out of the receiver, it easily breaks in two pushing in opposite directions(up and down) at this connection point.

I don't want to start prying with a screwdriver without knowing what I'm doing. I wonder if there is a quick and easy secret to the whole process that I'm overlooking.

Thanks,

straightShot
