I have a friend that is in possession of a DUO pistol in caliber 6.35mm It was obtained into this family in 1943 and is of Italian manufacture and is marked with a five digit serial number. None of my limited value books list any such pistol.

Anyone have any idea what this gun is or what it's worth?

Sorry no pics. I'll try to get pics next week.

The pistol isn't Italian, it's Czech. It was produced by Dusek, of Opocno, Czech Republic.

From the "Standard Catalogue of Firearms":

"Introduced in 1926, this 6.35mm pistol is based on the 1906 Browning design. It has a 2.25" barrel and 6-shot detachable magazine. The Duo was successful from a commercial standpoint and was exported throughout the world. During WWII the slide markings were in German and name 'Eblen', Dusek's German sales agent, may sometimes be found on the slide. The Duo may also be found marked Ideal, Jaga and Singer. Nazi-marked examples may bring a 25% premium.

Excellent: $250; VG: $200; Good: $150; Fair: $100; Poor: $80."
