Introducing the MP 41-265TS

Got a new MiHec mold this week. I'm pretty excited about this one because of all of the options that can be made from this one mold. I only had one .41 mold before now and it was a solid, so I can finally make some decent HP's for it. I do love a hollow point bullet.

I think I'll start with the shallow HP first. The shorter HP pins usually let go really easily and I can break it in and season the blocks with an easy one. Sometimes the deep HP and penta pins can grab a little until they get a few casts on them.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate. It is supposed to be nice tomorrow (Saturday) and maybe I can get some casting in.

Dang it, you know I'm gonna have to get me one of those.

I love that particular type bullet in my revolvers. It works great and is very accurate.

Thanks for your tips on the pin adjustments B - I cast a few 100 .40 S&W in my first MP mold. Only thing to mention is it seems the rounds are a bit undersized and must be powder-coated to seat in the brass. Several of the ones I just lubed needed the heaviest crimp I could dial in to stay put. They're def not .402 - battery's dead in my caliper, or I'd have tighter specs for this post. I powder coated 50 of the penta points and those seated perfectly without resizing.

Wow, Grey Lion, that's odd news. I don't think I've ever heard of an MP casting small. I am very surprised they aren't at least .402 as cast. I would suggest writing to him after you get good measurements. Perhaps borrow a mic if you can. Good luck on that. I think all of mine cast exactly to the size stamped on the mold.

And here’s the first pour. I ended up making two pours today, about 15# of boolits, I’d guess. Again, this is straight out of the mold, so don’t look too closely for culls just yet.
