Interesting column on shooting accuracy

You might want to go to townhall.com today and read Thomas Sowell's column. He has some interesting statistics from a NYC police study on handgun accuracy in real life shooting incidents. It might reflect how different it is shooting on the range versus a dangerous adrenaline filled situation, or merely how poorly trained the NYC cops are with their handguns.

Any intruder who hears the distinctive sound that is made when you load a shotgun is likely to decide that he would much rather be somewhere else, very quickly.

I got to this and quit reading.

I don't know NYC training standards. If they are close to most LEO training. At school they fire around 500 rounds total. The next time they fire is during their requalification generally either every 6mo. or a year, perhaps 200 rounds usually less. Does it surprise you they can't hit anything? You fight the way you train, if you don't train...
