Interarms 92 lever .38/.357??

Anyone have any insight on how long Interarms has been building/importing the 92 rifles? I have a chance to pick up a used one in .38/.357, but I am not sure how old it is. It does not have the crossbolt safety, and the serial number is K104***. The gun is in very good condition, so any guess on an approximate value?

Also, what is the general consensus on this particular 92? Thanks!

I had one once. Action was a bit jerky and stiff, and accuracy wasn't anything to rave about, but it was light, balanced well, and did it's job. They're ok, and the action can be tuned. Not sure what their value is these days but if you pass on it, let me know where it is.

Interarms 357

I have one I bought new in 1993 it is serial #101xxx.It does not have any type of safety on it at all.It is a very good gun and if the price is right,I would say go for it.Magazine capacity is 10 357's or 11 38's.I will tell you that some of these have had trouble cycling 38's.You can go online and find info on how to fix it.It seems that a 38 being shorter tries to feed the shell and the casehead of the next one in line as well.I have had some trouble with mine but I found that if I load the 38's out alittle long mine works great.A 38 even a +p is a *****cat in this rifle.I love mine.I think it would make a great trainer to a young shooter or someone who maybe recoil shy.

I went ahead and picked the 92 up today, and I actually quite pleased with it. Its a 16" carbine model, and is in very good condition. I don't think it has been shot much, and the action is a little stiff. Then again, its not much different then the other new 92/94 new guns I have played around with. I'm sure with a little effort and a few rounds done range, the action will slick up nicely.

These Model 92 "clones" haven't been imported under the Interarms name for about 10 years.
Interarms went out of business back then.
Since then, the rifles have been imported under a variety of importers, including Dixie Arms, Navy Arms, EMF, and others.

These rifles were made in Brazil by Rossi, and now by Taurus, who bought Rossi out.
These are straight forward, close copies of the original Winchester Model 1892, although with a coil spring hammer spring and some other minor changes.
They were always good shooters, and more recent versions look better than the old hard wood stocked models, especially the color case hardened premium versions.

In .38 Special, it's an extremely quiet rifle.
Years ago, a gun dealer shooting buddy and I bought two on special for something like $130.00.
With light .38 Special reloads they were very accurate, and seemed to be about as quiet as the .22LR.

A few of the Interarms era 92s were even made in a discreet .38 Special chambering (i.e., no .357)--though these are hard to find. The 92 action is much better, stronger and smoother than the 94 for these "pistol" caliber rounds, having been designed for the shorter cartridges fromt the get-go. One of the nice things about all the Interarms Rossis is that none have the stupid little, ambiguous safety switch atop the receiver like all LSI/Puma, and later (post mid 06) EMF and Navy Arms have...but NKJ can take care of that for you as well if you've got the LSI or other late models.

These are all great guns; as some have indicated - some better than others out of the box... The stiff action mentioned can be helped considerably either by a lot of shooting or dry (empty) lever-cycling a few to several hundred times (of course the better to be lubed well prior anyway, as with any new (or unknown used) gun starting out). If that still doesn't do it for you, Steve Young, aka Nate Kiowa Jones - at http://www.stevesgunz.com is the top 92 specialist for you - he does an amazing action job/tune up from mild (every-day recreational sport shooting) or all the way up as far as "race ready" (for cowboy action shooting/gaming)...and can tune up your 92 so it'll run on most anything regarding those two calibers.
