I was at Gander Mountain today with a friend looking to buy his first handgun.
Price is a huge consideration with about $325 being his upper limit

What he has homed in on is an Indian Ordnance 9mm Hi Power clone for $275
The other is a used S&W 5906 but his preference is the IO.

I have never heard of Indian Ordnance and apparently neither has any of the staff. It seems like a good gun, but I told him I would ask here

I saw one a while back. IIRC the Indian refers to made in India, not a reference to American Indians. I am a firm believer in buying good used over cheap new whether it is cars, electronics, or guns. I would suggest a S&W 3913 or 3914. They are outstanding guns and can be had used in that price range.
