If only one teacher had been armed...

A high school in Bailey, CO (about 30 miles from where I sit now) was besieged by an armed lunatic today. The only good things about this incident are that the ****bag capped himself, and only one innocent died, after the attacker shot her in the head (OK, for a relative value of "good"... could have been far worse).

Points:
-The police failed to protect the kids, not that it's their job to do so.
-The school staff were legally prohibited from protecting their charges as firearms are forbidden on school ground.
-The attacker was legally prohibited from owning guns, but had one anyway, and brought it to where he ought not to have brought it (see above).

Yep. Gun control works, a'ight. :(

The student that was shot was held hostage. She was shot after the police stormed the room when negotiations broke down. So the news says.
I don't know if a teacher or anybody with a gun could have done much if they didn't have an open shot. Once a hostage is taken, there are no more clear shots. It may be that nobody saw the gun until then.
