I have wanted one of these pistols for a long time but money and opportunity never crossed paths until Friday, when I spotted this one at the Evil Pawn Shop tucked back on the bottom pistol shelf, price tag said $379 so I grabbed it and started dealing, when I was finished I walked it out the door for,,,,$350 total :D
date code says she was built in 1994 but it is a very clean and good looking pistol.

here are the first 10 shots through it by me @ 15 yards averaging 1-1.5 seconds per shot.

I think the HK fits in quite nicely with my other carry guns and I'm tickled to finally own one

There are some guns in .40 that are a match made in heaven.

SIG P229
SIG P239

And most assuredly the HK USP/USPc/P2000

You will love it.

You should find a lathe & 20$ carbide boring bar, and bore it out to run 10mm from double-stack 1911 mags. It makes an excellent pistol, perfect. Ironically, the USP is probably among the cheapest entries into the 10mm game apart from RIA 1911s with low capacity magazines.

Agreed with the additions in BOLD

I have never had any interest at all in .40SW (it's still a compromised cartridge with few real-world benefits over 9x19mm).

But dang! For the prices I'm seeing really nice used and trade-in .40SW pistols these days, I might have to reconsider!

Never have understood all the caliber war stuff, even though I settled on the .40 for my EDC pistols, I have carry guns in 9 and 45 plus I'm looking for a P239 in 357 Sig just because I want one, I will carry a .380 in full confidence, plus I really like revolvers and all the calibers that goes with them

I’ve had one for a few years and it really is a nice gun. The one I have is a nice shooter smooth and reliable. I know some folks like to standardize on caliber/manufacturer, but I myself like variety and since I wanted a .40S&W why not the HK USP.

Love my USP 40. I recommend the reduced power hammer spring, makes the DA trigger pull much nicer and no issues here with failure to fire.

I prefer the USP Compact over the standard USP... the Compact magazines are used with the P2000, and the P30 magazines are based off them (longer, but fit).

My father got a .40 USP Compact, DAO version. Converted it to LEM as a Father’s Day present. It is his favorite pistol.
