Hydrostatic shock -- at what level?

I tried asking the question "at what level of power does 'pistol-level' stopping power become 'rifle-level' stopping power.'

But this was way too vague, and most of the discussion was about the meaning of the question.

So here's a new one : at what level is a pistol wound capable of having hydrostatic shock as a significant component of it's profile? Assuming a 5" to 8" barrel?

I think this is an interesting question since "hydrostatic shock" is supposedly not much of a factor in pistol wounds but seems quite important in calibers like the .223 and .308.

This will probably turn into another "pro-M&S" v. "anti-M&S" thing, but a man can hope . . .
