How would you deal with a 6 gun limit on guns?

Over here(Sweden) we have a limit of 6 rifles for hunting, after we pass a hunting course/test yadda yadda. handguns is another matter so'll leave it.

(you can get more guns but abit more paper work)

So we have this 6 gun limit to work from)

What would be your choice of "only" six (long guns) for hunting?

when browsing these forums i sometimes get the impression you all have arsenals worth of guns:)

Do you feel you CAN accomodate all your hunting with this limit? how would you set it up? calibre/gun type?

I am in the process of building up my arsenal

As it stands
Tikka t3 .308 with a 1,5-2x24 leupold my allaround rifle
remington 1100 birds and trap gun
Husqvarna 12 gauge SbS for more social hunts, rabbit/fox
tikka m70 .222/16 combi, for stalking roedeer or fox a peccar sight
Savage mk11 .22

I feel I lack a another rifle or two, probably one heftier calibre for bear/boar and more flushing kind of hunts, may I could go with a semi or double rifle for that, with a reddot

And to even it out maybe a 223 bolt or some more efficient .22 calibre, can only hunt so much with the .22 now it is more for practise

If we had a "six" gun limit, I would be able to find the gun I'm looking for in my gun safe.

I wouldn't know what to do if suddenly I was limited to 6 guns. It would be like limiting my kids, I wouldn't know which ones to get rid of.

You say six rifles for hunting. Does that pertain only to rifles, or would other long guns such as shotguns be included in the six?

Anyhow, I'd figure a .17 or .22 for rabbits/squirrels/casual plinking. Some sort of varmint cartridge for such as coyotes. Then, a more "serious" cartridge in the 7mm08 to .30-'06 size. So, three rifles would meet my hunting needs.

I've messed around with various types and gauges of shotguns. My old Model 12 12-gauge would work just fine for whatever birds I was after.

I would run for office or do whatever I could to elect those who share my values and get the law changed.
Oh! I do that now. And, I encourage everyone to participate in the system to protect our freedoms.

How would that six gun rule apply to say a Blaser with interchangeable barrels? Same with the new TC Dimension? Could you have six of those and then multiple barrels for them? Just curious....

I only have 3 guns, a Remington 700 .270 win, a Ruger 77 stainless .300 Win Mag and a Stoeger O/U 12 gauge. Oh yeah, and also a 45ACP pistol.

re Art: shotguns count to the limit, a real shame because old shotguns and other riflles passed down from grandparents have no room so to speak so they get destroyed:mad:

barrels require a license but don't count towards the 6 gun limit which is great, I am already thinking about upgrading to a mauser m03:)

6 gun limit:eek: I would have to move! If that was my limit: Ruger m77 in 338 win mag for the big stuff. Rem 700 in 30-06 for medium game. Win 70 in 243 win for small game. AR 15 in 223/5.56 for fun. Savage markII 22 lr for target and rabbits. And Mossberg 835 in 12 ga for birds.
What is the reasoning behind a 6 gun limit. Are the lawmakers afraid people will start committing crimes after they have 7 guns ? I can understand the thinking behind certain types of firearm bans ( though I don't think they work to deter crime) but a limit on the number of guns leaves me confused. Also is that limit per person or per family?

I see barrels don't count. TC arms just came out with a bolt action interchangeable barrel for multiple calibers. tcarms.com it's called the Dimension , guaranteed moa accuracy.

per person Al,

no swedish hunter or sport shooter understands it either, they even have statistics that show that we legal gun owners almost never r use guns in crimes. even if legal guns are used they are stolen and that doesn't even happen anymore, we gotta have safes to but thefts are as rare as before

the restrictions on semi-autos is pretty harsh to, nothing with a military construction:(

Oh I think your government is afraid you might arm the entire city and start a revolution. Someone should remind them that we kicked the British out with muzzle loaders. It is the resolve of the people that will determine what happens, not what they are armed with. The same holds true for criminal behavior.

Out of the guns I already own,

Mossberg chuckster .22wmr
H&R Handi Rifle .243
Mossberg 500 20 ga
Mossberg 930 12ga
Weatherby vanguard .300 wby mag
H&R huntsman .50 cal muzzleloader

However if were talking wants, I am sure a lever action in either 30-30 or 44 would replace the muzzleloader and a remington 700 in .223 would replace the .22 wmr

All I need is a .22lr, a .243, a 12ga for birds, a 12ga. for deer. And except an extra .22 that's all I have.

Don't buy into the "everyone in america is armed to the teeth" thing. Truth is there 10 times more folk that have one or two guns than have more than that.

I'd have to decide what exact model to keep for each cartridge, but it would look like this:
.22 LR
.22 WMR
.243 Win
.270 Win
.444 Marlin (can double as a .410 shotgun with handloads)
12 ga

OR, maybe...

.22 LR
.223 Rem
.270 Win
.35 Whelen
.444 Marlin (double duty)
12 ga

Aye. Most people on TFL are the "exception to the rule," in that we're generally much more enthusiastic about firearms or more involved in shooting than the average owner. As such, we tend to have a few(;)) more firearms.

Trying to get there :D

That is tough, and it would be enough more difficult for those engaged in competitive shooting.

Small bore prone,

Highpower across the course, service rifle and match rifle.

F class, tactical and unlimited.

You know I would exceed the limit just with target 22 LR's.

For hunting I could get by with a 30-06, .22LR and a 12 Ga. If I was interested in varmits, a .223 tossed in.

I would be in trouble big time even if my wife doughter and son pass the test, in order to keep all my hunting rifles and shotguns need 5 or six more wifes....!!!!:D;)

Six long guns? I guess I'd have to find.... 3 more!

I've never been one to own a lot of guns. I'm a user, not a collector. The actual device itself holds no specific value to me so one for each task is plenty.

I now have a 10/22, a Ruger M77 MkII in .204 and a Savage 11 which began life as a .270WSM but will soon be a .243AI. I have no particular desire for more.

I'm philosophically opposed to 6 gun limits (or 6,000), since I believe in that thing called freedom, but 6 is certainly more than I need.
