How I throw my own clay pigeons

There is no trap range up here in the sticks. So I fastened a piece of pipe on to the end of a length of 2" tubing.

This slides into the trailer hitch receiver on my pickup. (The piece of plywood is a seat in case I ever find anyone else who wants to operate the thrower.)

My old clay pigeon thrower sits in the pipe and can swivel around.

Then I attach a thin rope to the thrower's trigger as in the picture below. The other end of the rope clips onto my belt.

A little wiggle from the hip and the pigeons are launched.

Now, any place I stop my pickup becomes a trap range just for me.

Nice work on the mount!

I don't have a trap range either, but I bought a Champion Target WheelyBird. Mainly because my wife complained about having to reset my manual thrower when I wasn't around to do it for her. As you know the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and my wife knows how to squeak! ;)

All she has to do is roll it out of the shop along with the dolly I have the battery strapped to, and she's ready to shoot. I really didn't mind buying this as I enjoy that my wife likes to shoot and will do it on her own when I'm not around. I just wish it was a little more portable, and I wish it threw doubles.
