How compressed is too compressed?

Last night I was going to load some 45/70 for the upcoming rifle season in Oklahoma. I found 2 different manuals that listed 70 grains of Accurate 4350 as a load. When I measured this amount it almost would not, and in smoe cases did not all fit in the empty case. I mean it was full right up to the top. I am loading a Hornady 300 gr. JHP. I did not have the Hornady manual so I used Lee and found the Accurate web site which both said the same thing (70 gr. with no min. and max.... only 70 gr) I was considering reducing by 10% to start. Does anyone think this would be a problem? Oh, BTW I am using a CCI magnum primer. Any suggestions or input would be appreciated.

4350 is a real "railroad tie" powder.

You might try one of those long drop tube powder funnels. These help to pack the powder in the case alot denser.
