Hornady Sonic cleaner solution

Just started using a sonic cleaner. the last batch had a piece of steel in it. Some of the brass pieces discolored I am wondering if the mixture of steel caused any damage to brass. I am using Hornady's brass cleaner.

Second question what is a good solution to use for cleaning gun parts?

FYI, I found that a 50/50 solution of 100% lemon juice and water, with a touch of Dawn worked much better than the Hornady solution. Turn on the heat, fill it with brass, and let it do it's thing.

308Prepper, thanks for the tip, didn't have a chance to clean some until last night. That solution worked excellent!! Thanks so much for the tip.

I tried the sonic cleaner for a while, but after a while I decided to try a regular vibrator cleaner and media and I've never gone back. It seemed like more trouble and it didn't do a good job.
