Holographic optics

Specifically I am looking into an EoTech 511 or 512 as a sure thing but as an alternative I was wondering if there were any good scopes with multiple reticles. I am not too fond of the EoTech red dot or 65 MOA circle with 1 MOA dot. I remember seeing something like this on a Bushmaster at Cabela's once and liked it. All I find is cheaper off brand stuff. So, any good brands to look at?

I have an EOTech Model 512, and a Model 552.
The 512 is just perfect for use as a hunting sight.
EOTech sights are the only true Holographic sight made. All others are Red Dot sights.
I can't use a sight with a complex reticle as they just interfere with shooting quickly.

What about the bushnell holosight? I would get that if it were just hunting (even though it's a little pricey IMHO for hunting). I guess I will look into the EoTech a little more then. Maybe I could win a good bid on eBay.

thanks. Del-ton is having a 10% off on EoTechs right now til the 4th. Makes the 551 affordable now. :D maybe I can splurge and go for the 552 and AA batts

Both the 512 and the 552 use "AA" batteries. The 511 uses "N" cells, and would recommend against one of them.
However, the 552 is much larger than the 512 and really is too big for sporting rifles. It's designed for use on Main Battle rifles by Armies around the world.
I have my 512 sitting on an all black Ruger 10-22 sporter, and it's just right size wize.

What are you looking for in a reticle? I think of my 512 as a combination reticle 65 and 1 MOA, which I find superior to a single dot, especially a larger 2-5 MOA one. I realize that $100 more for the Eotech vs. a Bushnell, is a fair amount of $, but I think it is probably worth it in the long run - time will tell. I'm a huge fan of readily available batteries that equal lower operating costs. I use rechargeable AAs without a problem.

I do like the ring/dot over just dot, helps me acquire faster. However I don't like how wide the ring is. Only complaint on my end right now. As far as batteries go I think I could suffer with a N type but I would definitely like the availability of the AA. This sight will eventually make it onto my SHTF rifle and I still need to decide caliber and platform. Leaning toward a 5.56 but would like that 6.5 or 6.8 for good measure.
