Wow, nobody has tried it. I guess I'll be the first one then, well after my H335 and BLC2 run out. Which is another 500+ loads I guess.

Well, you shouldn't be the only one to take one for the team.:) I'm going to a gun shop this afternoon and if they have it in stock, I'll buy some also. I've been working on building some precision rounds for my Sport and I'll give it a go on a few and see how it works.
It'll be a week or so before I get a chance to shoot it if God is willing and the creek don't rise(also if the lgs has it)and I'll report back as to how it goes.
Regards,
Hobie

1hobie - looks like Wingman beat us to it. :(

Wingman - Well from reading the other thread, it seems like you like it a lot.

I was looking for a can locally, but not available in my area yet. I don't like paying the hazardous cargo charge on a 1lb can. It only pays off if I buy the 8lb can but was not sure about the new powder yet.

How does it compare to H335 or BLC2?

I bought a can of CFE223 at the last gun show and loaded up 5 each, 5 different charges with two types of bullets (55gr V-Max and 52gr A-Max), 50 rounds total, of .223. Plan to have some fun trying it out here when the range opens in a few weeks. I’m hoping that the 52 grain A-Max bullets give me good results. They do using IMR3031 powder.

According to burn rate it's similar to BLC2,I don't have the equipment to give you velocity however since I target shoot only I'm concerned with accuracy and the CFE seems excellent, using a Stag Model 3 chrome bore 1/9 twist normal groups of .750-1.0 @100 yards but with the CFE had a couple groups under 1/2 inch, perhaps just a fluke but will know for sure after a couple pounds;), at any rate I do like this powder. Cleaning issue has improved. I want to test more in my Model 12 also but have not had time to work up loads. I purchased my can along with other powder from Powder valley could not find it local, wish I had added a couple more cans to order.;)

Thanks Wingman. I've had good luck with the BLC2 and 55 gr V-max. Will give this CFE a try when I can get an order in.

This is kind of like the Alliant Power Pro 300MP saga. I read about it, and even looked at load data long before I could find any. I guess powders don't always get released to the public before the hype about them does. Oh well, I finally found some, and it was worth the wait. Not really economical, but a very powerful, fun shooting product. Alliant's answer to 296, it would seem.
