HK USP/C Barrel Too Short?

Since the barrel length on the USP Compacts are shorter (~3.5") than the competition (Sig P229 and Glock 19/23 at around 4") does it make the USP/C less effective? Will the 1/2" really make a difference due to loss in velocity?

A difference in what?

Accuracy or power transfer? In either case I feel the difference would be very minimal, if at all due to the polygonal barrel of the HK, which will buy you about +6% muzzle velocity over a standard rifled barrel.

I wouldnot cinsider that .5" a factor when choosing a pistol.
