Anyone know of a cheap and functional hip holster for a S&W 642? My father needs one for a gun class. He pocket carrys typically, so it won't get much use after the class. Any ideas?

If he is gonna be doing alot of drawing and firing then he should get something some what decent. He dosent wanna be fumbling around with a cheap holster in the middle of class. I recommend anything kydex, easy draw and re-holster.

Look up Don Hume holsters. I use one al lthe time and it is a very good leather holster for only $20 and they can be worn strong side or cross hand.

If you don't want to wait , go to your local gun dealer and get a Uncle Mike's.
The Don Hume is better though .

If you want CHEAP but decent, look for an Uncle Mikes. If he may actually carry OWB and use it for more than just this class, look for something leather from Don Hume, Galco or Bianchi.

Thanks a lot guys! I passed on your info. and he went with the clamshell holster suggested by 22-Mag. I'm anxious to see how he likes it.
