Help with Cheek Rest on HK91 & Scope

Hello, I have recently added a scope to my HK91 and was wondering if any of you have any suggestions as to what kind of cheek rest a person could purchase to aid in getting the proper cheek weld.

I am having a hard time getting lined up in the same spot as the original stock does not allow me to get my eye up high enough without a lot of fiddling around.

So I'm wanting to buy something to either put around or tie onto my present stock or replace the stock with one suitable for scope use.

Thanks!

The correct answer is "it depends". Exactly how thick do YOU need?

The cheap way to do it is to get some 100 mph tape and a milsurp closed cell foam sleeping pad then cut and tape until you have the correct sight picture. I very much recommend going this route even if it is just to see how thick you need a cheek piece.

If you don't need a very thick piece, then an Eagle or Blackhawk cheekpad/stockpack are both affordable and "tacticool".

If you need a LOT then look at getting something like a Karsten's cheekpiece.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but without seeing you and your rifle together I can only give suggestions.

You don't say which stock you have ...

Since you say HK 91, I'm assuming that you have the standard fixed buttstock. If so you have two choices ...

1) Add a checkweld from RTG Parts at http:\\www.rtgparts.com\g3.html

or

2) Replace the buttstock with a MSG90, which you can order from Black Market Parts (bonus US made part) at http:\\www.shop.black-market-parts.com/main.sc and go to G3 spare parts

Thats the best two solutions I'm aware of for the HK91 and clones.

The first choice is similar to what the Delta M16 looks like.

The other is similiar in function to the MagPul buttstock for ARs.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I like the look of the MSG90 Stock as it will allow me to adjust it upwards. With the factory one piece scope mount and the factory stock its near impossible to get my eye up there high enough.

What kind of scope and mount?

I used ARMS claw mounts on my 91's and MP5, which used a rail instead of the HK "rings", and either a Leupold 1.5x5 or my favorite, a Beeman SS3 1.5x4, which is a great little scope if you can find one. With the Leupold on the lowest rings I could find, or the Beeman with its integral mount, the scopes were low enough, and forward enough, to get a good, natural cheek weld on the A2 stock.

It must be a German thing, but all the HK mounts I've tried, mounted the scopes way to high, and to far to the rear for comfortable, natural shooting.
