Help with AR-15 choice

I need to buy a patrol carbine for my squad car. I went looking at a local shop today and was steered toward a Yankee Hill blackdiamond carbine. It has all of the features I am looking for in an AR-15. I just cant find much information about this particular brand of rifle. Can anyone tell me anything about this brand of rifle? I also liked the smith and wesson m&p with the troy rail and flip up sights.

If I had to do it all over again, I would go with the S&W. There offering a patrol carbine that has all the goodies on it, and at a good price.
