Help! .177 single shot air rifle

A friend has loaned me his Chinese .177 pellet air rifle , and is out of town for the next month .

This rifle has a side of barrel mounted pump lever that not only compresses the air on movement away from the barrel, but also moves the "bolt" at the same time.

TWO Questions

Question 1:
I have apparantly goofed by doing a full compression stroke (to the rear), followed by a partial forward home motion without pulling the trigger, followed by full compression stroke.

The pump lever and "bolt" have locked in the full back and open position.

Is this a presure lock, or something mechanically related.

Either way, what is the fix?

Question 2:
What are lubricating/cleaning requirements of a lead pellet firing air gun?
