Headstamps

Is there any place that you can look to see who makes a specific headstamp?

I'm not familiar with the headstamps *I*, CBC or S&B? Are they military?

What is the easiest way to determine if a casing is military or not?

So a general rule of thumb is if it has the calibar on the headstamp then it's Commercial. If it has numbers then it's military?

A dash (looks kind of like a horizontal "I") with a * on each end is Starline brass, I think.

S&B is Sellier & Belloit (czech).

CBC is Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos (probably).

Military brass is usually marked with a year and a manufacturer marking of some kind, sometimes a little crossed circle also. That means it's loaded to NATO standards. Old commie ammo usually has a year and/or factory number headstamp. A crimped primer and/or primer sealant is also a tip that it's military brass.

The place where I get my brass is almost all CBC & *I*.
From the research I did, it appears that CBC is Magtech ammo.
*I* is Independence from what I can tell.

PMC stands for Pan Metal Corporation, it's commercial. I've shot thousands of rounds of PMC through my .45, it's decent ammo...

As of today, PMC stands for Precision Made Cartridges and it's made in Korea. I've reloaded thousands of it. Good brass, at least in pistol calibers.
The company has been bought and sold several times.
Both *I* and CBC are excellent IMO.
