I finally ordered a 10mm Gen 3 Glock 20 and a .45 ACP XDM 5.25 Competition.

I should have them mid to late week. :D

I have wanted a 10mm for a long long time and wish I could afford a STI but, I can't get a nice .45 if I spend $2700 on the 10mm.

Nice.

Very interested in the xdm 5.25 and how you like it. Post a follow up when you do get it. I am very close to ordering one!

I have a Glock 20 10mm and has been reliable for years. Have been shooting my G17 lately because am reloading 9mm at the moment. Why did you go with a 10mm vs. 9mm? Just wondering not trying to sway any different way. The 10mm is a great caliber but just not that popular.

I have 2 9mm's and I reload all of the calibers I shoot. I have 3 metallic presses and one shotgun press.

I wanted a caliber that most don't have and the 10mm was one that offered great ballistics without costing a ton in hard to find components. 10mm projectiles are as common as 9mm.

I picked the Glock for a number of reasons #1 being price and #2 being flexibility with the ability to change calibers from 10mm to 40S&W, .357 Sig and 9x25 Dillon.

If the XMD had a 10mm version I would have only order one gun.

yes i was thinking of changing barrel to a .40 on the g20 just because i dont have one. ill see how much time i hve to mess with it. i have g17 and g21 already.

i was debating between 9 and .45 for xdm 5.25.
interssted in how you like yours compared to glock.

Finally tomorrow I am going to pickup my new guns! Man that was a wait!

I might be able to hit the range tomorrow afternoon and I will have a range report on them?

Hhmmm....I'll be interested in your opinion re: the trigger pull on the Springfield after you get a chance to play with it for awhile. I've never held one, much less been able to evaluate the trigger. I've spent some time on the XD forum and did some reading about the competition model. Lots of folks that purchased them felt they needed to put in a aftermarket trigger. Everything else I've read suggests it's a very nice pistol.--Patrice

I was not able to get to the range today. Thursday maybe?

I have pulled the trigger and number of times with a snap cap and I like the XDM's trigger much better then the glock.

I will update once I hit the range.

Got to the range today but.............I forgot .45 ammo so no XDM report!:eek:

Shot the glock 20, AR's and 9mm's.

The Glock 20 was fantastic! All loads were hand loads with 4 different powders and 2 different bullet weights.

The lighter loads were like shooting a 9mm and the hotter stuff was not even close to what I was expecting. One handed shots with the hot stuff was simple.

I did have a few fail to fire that were all with Double tap brass?? 4 total. All other loads shot well and were accurate.

Loads using 7.4g's of Unique and 135g Nosler JHP's had some pretty good flames out of the barrel.

Side note: I love the CMMG conversion on my S&W M&P AR shooting .22 LR. Accurate as heck. I shot the bulls eye out of the target at 50 yards.

Color me jealous and very interested in how the .45 shoots.

I thought it was interesting that your hot 10mm loads were so comfortable to shoot.

If it wasn't for the cost of 10mm I would own a Glock 29. Hell I might in spite of the cost.

The 29's I have shot have been AWESOME. Not near the recoil you would expect from such a stout cartridge in a relatively itty bitty light gun. Loved the 29s I have shot.

If I would have ordered one and waited to get the other most certainly the money would have been spent on something else not gun related and I was not letting my chance to get them pass me me by.

Heading to the range on Tuesday this time with .45 ammo! LOL:D

I have to say from what I can tell by snap cap firing the XDM the trigger is smooth as silk! The Glock's trigger has some uptake but is crisp. I ordered the Ghost Rocket connector and spring kit for the Glock and my SR9. The SR9 is in serious need of trigger help and I hope this does the trick?

Good answer. Get it while you still have the money. I did that with my Glock 20SF 10mm while I had the money, I bought it new, then I put "just" another $950 into it. Thank God I was holding back. It unbelievable how much you can spend on the Glock's or a 1911.

What did you do to it? I am aware of some of the many aftermarket parts and whatnot but, $950 is almost the cost of 2 more Glock 20's!:eek:

I have seen some of the custom Glocks and they look fantastic. If it were not for the Glock being the most cost effective way to get into the 10mm I don't think I would have bought a Glock even though I know that they are great reliable guns they are UGLY! The customs are good looking but are $2000 and for that money I would get a STI Perfect 10.:D

Hit the range yesterday. Love the XDM's trigger and just the way it feels in my hand. One thing I noticed was in the not so well lit range I was not able to see the red front fiber optic sight but I was still able to use them. I am sure they would work much better in sunlight or better lit indoor range.

The 5.25 XDM is a pleasure to shoot and is really easy to shoot accurately. The long sight picture with the long barrel make it super simple to get some nice grouping.

This target is a mix of 15 feet and 30 feet.

The Glock 20 was again fantastic! I shot a mix of 135g JHP's and 180g JFP's also with a few different loads. My favorite was 8.0g's of Power Pistol with the 180g's JFP. It had some recoil but, not harsh. The muzzle flash was impressive to say the least.

8.0g's of Unique with 135g Nosler was also a good load.

I have to add the picture of my target at 30 and 15 feet shooting my CZ 75B. This is 3 mag's. Rate of fire slow at 30 feet and medium at 15.

Thanks for the range report and the target pictures. It definitely looks like you've got two winners there.

For me it's good to hear that the 10mm recoil is not unduly harsh and that the XDM Competition is shooting like a gun with the word 'Competition' in its description should shoot.

Congratulations.
