I don't know a lot, but here it goes. The early Hatfield rifles were pretty decent quality semi custom guns made in Missouri. The company changed hands a time or two and quality went down. The later ones were simply an Italian made Pedersoli with the Hatfield name. Pedersoli continued to make the same rifle after Hatfield folded, I believe it is there present Frontier or Blue Ridge rifle.

I have heard bad and good about them. Maybe the bad was from when their quality suffered, but I would feel worse if you missed out on a custom rifle or some unique antique, they made plenty of Hatfields so another will turn up.
