Has anyone replaced their RIA sights?

I have a RIA 5"GI pistol. It shoots low, any suggestions? I don't plan on cutting the slide. What are my options?

How low, from how far?
New higher rear sight might work. Or have a smith punch out the old front sight and restake a newer, lower front sight in it's stead.
