Has anyone ever made a 3"-5 shot .45 acp revolver?

yes, and no.

I think S&W made a limited number of them several years back, from what was then their Custom Shop. But they had a 2.5" bbl. I actually have a picture of one somewhere. I'll try to find it and post it. I can't remember the model number, but it had a name disignation like "defender" or "equilizer" or something like that.

Well, I found the pic, but don't seem to be able to get it to attach to my post. The S&W was called an "Effector". Had an "N" frame and utilized full moon clips. It was also blued. Pretty cool gun. I don't think they make one anymore, but it would be nice to find one.

Sorry about the no pic.

The "Effector" was a cut-down model 25-5, according to my search. It is still a 6-shot revolver.

I believe the Taurus is the only 5-shot ACP revolver you will find. Taurus relovers can be great...or they can be a problem.

You may want to check the S&W 325PD. It is a 6-shot N-frame, but it is a Scandium frame and only weighs around 25oz. Available with 2.75 or 4" barrel.
