I just bought a ruger 22/45 target model with a 6 1/2 inch bull barrel, I love everything about it except the grips. Anyone have any advice on how to modify/change them? I appriciate any and all responses.

Nice gun isn't it? Excellent for target shooting. I haven't had any trouble with the grips. It fits my hand just fine. Perhaps some of the gentlemen here can help you.

By the way, Welcome to TFL. Hope you can pull up a seat and stay awhile.

Happy shooting.

Bt148, I've tried the slip on rubber type grips from Pachmayr and Houge. The Pachmayr's tore about the 2nd time I put them on, so I went with the Houge version. They have held up well for about 5 years.

I've never tried it, but I have seen shooters
using a bunch of rubber bands wrapped around the grip. Didn't look too pretty, but they said it worked. I've also seen a chunk of bicycle innertube used to accomplish the same thing.

Broken Gun Ranch (316) 385-2587 can install a set of 1911ish panels.

Well placed strips of self adhesive skateboard tape will also work wonders.

Good Luck...

Joe
