Since the Green Party's message is resonating
with between two and eight per cent of the
electorate, I decided to read the party's
platform.
If you can find an hour to spare, I would
encourage you to do the same.
At the risk of offending any Greens on this
board, I must say what they have in store for
this country is the sum total of your worst
radical leftist (read Socialist) nightmare.
In one breath they talk about decentralizing
government; in the next they insist that
"all people have a RIGHT to food, housing,
medical care, a living wage job, education, and support in times of hardship."
From where would the money come? You've got it! The fed gov, via your pocket.
They want to cut military spending by fifty
per cent over the next ten years.
They want to do away with "corporate farms".
They want you to pay for college for everyone
elses' child..That is "free tuition" for
everyone.
They want increased public funding (your money) for the arts at all levels. They want
your community to hire artists.
They want dramatic pay increases for teachers,but you will find NO MENTION of holding teachers responsible for the quality
of their work.
Oh, did I mention they want to wean you off
your internal combustion powered car?
