Hey, great site. But we call them Kentucky Rifles around here. Land of Daniel Boone, Fort Harrod, Bourbon, Horses, and Kentucky windage.

Ah... The age-old debate...

Is it Pennsylvania Long Rifle, or Kentucky Long Rifle? :)

Interestingly, Daniel Boone was born in Pennsylvania...

re: Daniel Boone was born in Pennsylvania...

Are you sure about that Mike? I've always read that he was born in North Carolina's Yadkin Valley.

Not arguing, just curious.

Daniel Boone's birthplace is about 30 miles from my house and is located near Reading,PA.

American Longrifles is a good name as these rifles were made not only in PA(possibly the first), but also up and down the Appalacian(sp) range from Georgia/South Carolina north to Pennsylvania.

Yep, but the Southern guns took a very pragmatic approach and developed into their own manner: Iron hardware, lack of fancy appointments, grease hole in stock in lieu of patchbox, no nosecap. Sometimes called Schimmels or Poor Boys, they were as accurate as their northern cousins.

Gonna have to make one for myself.
