Got a lever action? Tuning class

Howard Massingill is teaching a lever action rifle tuning class at Trinidad College this summer. Howard was one semester after me and after graduating operated his own gun shop in Pueblo. He's retired now but returns to Trinidad to teach in the summer. It's from June 24-8.

Lever Action Rifles
$350 or 2 credit hours
This course focuses on the philosophies of advanced lever action modification, metallurgy, stress, strength, and the design and theory of barrel gauging and lapping. Covers barrel, magazine, and forend fitting for accuracy, action tuning for reliability and ease of operation, and sight installation and advanced sight-in procedures. Provides the opportunity to do stock work and finishing.

Tool List for the Lever gun class: (Please keep in mind that the tools suggested for each class are the minimum tools you should bring. Please feel free to bring any additional tools you feel you may need)

1. A lever gun, preferably one that works. Marlin, Winchester, Henry, Savage and their variants are acceptable.
2.Basic hand tools, preferably of gunsmith quality, especially the screwdrivers for the disassembly of your lever
gun. A small brass hammer and drift punches. Ammunition for test firing your firearm at the range on Friday (if
time allows) Note- Ammunition is NOT allowed in the classroom.
3. If you plan on stock refinishing, bring 60, 120, 180, 240, 320 and 400 grit paper, along with stock finishing
products.
4. Safety Glasses and Hearing protection for the range on Friday.
