Glock Grip reductions & stippling.

I am not a huge Glock fan, however I took on the task of building up what in my mind, would be the perfect Glock 19 for myself. I really like all the after market for Glocks, mainly holster options and what not, and wanted a serious hard use carry gun I don't mind taking in the river with me fishing or kayaking where it may be submerged underwater a lot.

I ended up getting a stripped Glock 19 Gen 3 frame.

I want to have the grip reduced and professionally stippled. I looked a Bowie Tactical Concepts website and it looks like they do an incredible job, their prices aren't terrible, but their turn around time can be like 4 months.

I was wondering if anyone had theirs done by a reputable shop and would recommend any.

Robar. While I haven't had any work done by them, I have had the privilege of handling and dry firing an xD they worked over. From the trigger work to the slide refinishing to the stippling done to the frame, it is awesome work.

iirc, turnaround was 4 to 6 months, and he has never mentioned price, but it's by far the finest xD I have ever seen or felt, and trigger that just doesn't belong on a polymer duty gun.

I have seen their refinish metal work first hand, they do some awesome work. I never have seen their polymer work in person, sounds like it matches their metal work.

Robar, Lenny Magill....

Id also suggest Robar. They had a contract run for the Alaska State Troopers a few years ago to reduce the grips of the duty Glock 21 .45acp pistols.
Another source for custom work is www.glockstore.com . Lenny Magill of San Diego CA knows a lot about Glocks. His business might have what you need.
Id also suggest Morgan Boatman's www.Glockbooks.com & www.CustomizeyourGlock.com . He goes over all the custom features & modifications for Glocks.

All the best;

Thank you very much Clyde, you have helped me greatly converting to the dark side. By the end of everything I will own a Glock that cost me about as much as some of my 1911's:rolleyes:

Lot's of shops and specialists to choose from, but don't go cheap. I'd recommend Bowie Tactical Concepts ...

Dave's work is superb. He did the reduction, stippling, and beavertail work on both of my 10mm Glocks. I chose to keep the finger grooves on the front strap but he can remove them and do a full 360-degrees of stippling if that's want you'd like ...

Robar did the NP3 finishing on the barrel, slide, and slide internals.

Looks nice, I always considered the 10mm Glocks, but my hands just don't fit glocks well, the 19/23 is the most comfortable to me, so this will be my dive into the deep end of custom Glocks. I have already spent way too much on it, but it will be a keeper for sure. If I settle on a company and have a good experience with a grip reduction to fit my needs, I will be definitely be checking out a 10mm Glock.

CCF frames....

Richmond VA based CCF frames went out of business. :(
I'm not thrilled with the LWD/LoneWolf custom Glock frame.
As I've stated in the recent past, Im waiting for some intrepid small business owner to roll out a alloy/polymer Glock frame for gen 04 pistols. A frame with a thin grip, no sharp edges or ridges(for concealed use) & a rounded M&P/PX4 style front trigger guard.

NP3+ or Black T treated would be cool too but not a strict mandate.

I bought a Lone Wolf Slide and barrel, I have had experience with their barrels but not their slides. I have heard bad reviews of the Timber Wolf Frame admittedly. I looked at them but stayed away from it. The barrel and slide have not arrived yet but I spoke to their CS reps about 3 times with different questions and work I wanted done and so far they have been EXTREMELY nice and helpful. I read a few issues with fit problems, but really I work with 2 gun smiths, plus their a lifetime warranty and guarantee so I am sure they will correct any issues.

So far I have a stripped 19 frame.

I ordered:

Lonewolf built slide with all their aftermarket, and OEM firing pin
Lonewolf standard length Glock 19 9mm Barrel
Glocktriggers.com Haley Strategic Skimmer Trigger. the rest OEM parts for the frame.
15rnd Glock OEM Mags

Admittedly I an a Travis Haley fan boy as all of his products I have tried and used, and now own have been fantastic. I really like his insight on the stuff he produces or influences. I have the BCM Jack Carbine and it is hands down my favorite gun. Travis is an entrepreneur for sure, but having used almost all the products he puts his name on, I believe he won't put his name on something he truly doesn't believe in. I will do a review on the trigger when I can get some range time with this gun once it is built.

I am a 1911 fan, so this is MY attempt at a Glock 19 to fit MY needs with some extra after market parts just to literally have something different. Due to the mixed reviews with the Lone Wolf barrel fit, I intend to run about 2k-3k rounds through it before I would CCW with it.

The parts are all on order, and should be coming in with in the next few weeks. I am looking to eventually get the grip reduced, textured, then Cerakote the whole thing. Obviously this is not a cheap en-devour, but I am trying to make my dream Glock, with out going too insane.

For now my G19 will stay stock. It will have to live on through your project, and wallet.:D
I will be very interested to see how it turns out and to hear other people's thoughts.

I've had factory Glocks before but I always felt like they were lacking. We shall see I hope. I sold off a few guns and scopes I had laying around to cover this project. Sold my XDM 5.25 9mm to fund most of this. I liked the gun over all but the trigger was just too squishy for me.

I really like all the holster options and just how easy all these Glockophiles have it so I decided to build one up. I am going to assemble the parts and check for fit a d function before I decide to send it off n get the frame redone and cerackoted

Yes, my guns are Glock 10mms, but if you check his site he's done grip reductions, stippling & beavertail work on all models of Glocks. The G19 is probably the one Glock he's done the most. But beyond the grip work, Dave's extremely versatile, doing slide mods, including milling out the rear sight notch for mini-RDS installs and adding forward cocking serrations.

By the way, I think Dave's turnaround now is somewhat longer than 4 months, since his reputation has become better known oer the 'net and his work has gotten popular, especially in tactical and L.E. circles.

Hope this helps ...

I also grabbed Warren 2 lamp Tactical sights. I have used regular warrens before on the range and really liked them, but this will be a carry gun eventually so I opted for the 2 lamp set up.

I am sure most Glock guys think I am utterly insane at the moment, but oh well. It was either have fun building a Glock how I see fit, or just buying a HK P30, either way its costing me about the same, I guess I like to be different / difficult:rolleyes:
