Clearing the junk out of my basement. Found this magazine. It is a Glock 26, 10 round magazine, it is loaded with 9 rounds of 115 grain, +P, Corbon (the hot 9 MM round from back then). It has been loaded and untouched since 1997.
Will it function - yes or no.

Of course it will but theres probably a lot of "real" guns out there that it might not function in. :)

And yes he WILL comment. If he didnt I would be dissapointed.

Im truly interested in the result.
+1. I am 95% sure of the outcome already, but part of me hopes it fails.:D

I voted that Glockeroo will comment, as usual, to every thread that has anything to do with a GLOCK. If things get too out of control, we may even see the floating head of Gaston!!:D

I'll try to get to the range tommorrow. Here are a few items from the same box - two speedloaders of Black Talons and a Gerber BMF (must have been some moisture). I guess this answers the Gerber VS Glock question that has never been asked. If anyone has a suggestion for cleaning up the knife, I would really appreciate it.

Why would the magazine not function? Nothing has happened to it other than it sat for 10 years loaded, crikey, that's not going to harm any good quality magazine.

Wipe that knife down with Kriol or something similar and scrub the rust off with 0000 steel wool. You will have some patina left of course, but real men have no fear of patina ;)

Yes, it will fire. Springs wear down from expansion and contraction. I have original Glock 17 mags from around 1990 that work fine still and I've kept them loaded. The only other factor would be the round primers. If the magazine was full of oil it could permeate the primers to make them fail, but probably not the case here. I think it's going to work flawlessly. :)

It should be fine.

There shouldn't be any problems with the spring, and if the ammo was kept in a cool dry place, it should also be fine.

Heck, there's stories floating around about people firing off 1911 magazines loaded during WWII.

No suprise - the magazine functioned without a problem. I kind of had a concern that maybe the magazine spring could have corroded based off of how the knife looked. Afterwards, I broke the magazine down and the spring looked fine. I haven't shot a +P 9MM round in years - the G26 was spitting flame. I chronographed the rounds - 1284 fps average - smooooookin. I am tempted to buy the same round today and see if it is still just as fast.
