Garand trigger

The trigger on my Garand, DCM purchase Springfield built, is not so great. Like most military triggers it could use some work. The gunsmiths that I trust in this area will not touch a semi-auto rifle trigger group because of liability. As one fellow told me, "it is an ant's whisker between a nice smooth trigger and full auto".

Since these guys are businesses and have to consider liability in what they do, I understand their situation. My questions are:

Is it all that hard to stone the trigger group to smooth up the action a little? If I decide to try this myself, what pitfalls should I look out for? And if I chicken out, is there someone out there who can do this type of a job for me?

Thanks.

First step is to get a good set of illustrated directions. The NRA had some good ones in one of their M1 booklets. The absolute best is Jerry Kunhausen's M1 Gunsmithing manual.

I think that Fulton Armory will do it for you also.
