Garand sight trick

Initially setting up your sights for windage, most know to center the rear sight, then loosen the clamp screw on the front sight and move the front sight to sight in for windage. The correction value is approx. .008 in per MOA.

I figured out I have an ideal tool to precisely control the .008 per MOA movement.

Most machinist types who have worked a Bridgeport type mill have a device called an Indicol in their toolbox. It clamps to the spindle quill and holds a dial test indicator.

I use mine for indicating a vise square on a mill, tramming the mill head perpendicular, centering on pins, holes, etc.

I have even used mine for a few things on a lathe.

Well,I just checked and it will work great to hold a dial test indicator to a Garand front sight.Clamp it to the upper handguard, gently, right behind the stacking swivel.
