I got a garage giving me a 5gal bucket 1/2 full of wts. as we know, odds are 1/2 of that will be zinc. last time I got lead, I separated it.
not this time.
so im selling it mixed.
I know some loaders like zinc for magnum loads.
anyone got a shot in the dark value on this stuff for all of it, one shot?
might be 50lbs total.

Depends on the mix. There’s zinc, steel, and lead wheel weights. If it’s half zinc and half the rest is steel that means about 12 lbs of lead. I’d pay $10 to $15 for it based upon that limited info.

so I should expect someone to pay for the lead as the pay dirt and allow the zinc and steel to be the free slag?
I know lead was around 1.00 a lb at one time and changes, is there a price on zinc too?
if its worth it to separate, I might do it again.
and of course, all this stuff has the fittings attached to it too.

The steel clips float in a pot of lead. You can just skim them off. No problem.

I can't say I know from personal experience, but technically, if you have precise enough temp control,the zinc should melt at a higher temp. Somebody might be able to float the zinc weights off,too, but I don't have that precise temp control.

My understanding is that if some zinc gets melted in,the casting quality of the batch of metal is ruined.

I guess this implies that you don't cast bullets these days. I'd think an inquiry at a local gun shop or shooting range would find you takers.
A bucket of wheel weights is a treasure .

But its not a fortune in $ either way. Ask the person to make you an offer on the bucket of mixed weights.

A bait and tackle shop might cast it into sinkers or jig heads or bottom bouncers.

I don't consider 50lbs of mixed weights @15.00 a bucket a treasure, unless I missed the earlier quote.
so im hearing zinc can be used for sinkers?

lets make it more personal. if you were my neighbor, what would you pay for it all? basically....from the garage floor to my bucket to you.

Zinc is good for fishing weights, reloaders don't want it.
Zinc is less dense and has issues filling molds. People have messed around with it but not great results, so count it as scrap unless you are selling to folks who cast fishing weights or scuba weights
