Im a big fan. I'm 6'4" and about the same weight. I carry a G-21 in the winter and a G-30 with 9 round mags in the summer. I carry them both IWB and they are comfortable to me. It's a soft shooter just like the G-21. I say go for it.

I don't own one, but I've shot one and liked it. I thought the weird pinky rest cover thing that comes with the factory 10-rd magazine would bug me, but it actually felt just fine. Recoil was very manageable. You could use your 21 mags in the 30, which is definitely a plus.

Not sure where you are in north Georgia, but the Bullseye gun range in Lawrenceville has one for rent if you want to try it out.

No dislikes about the G-30. I have a G-21 and a G-30 both 3rd Gen. Both have been 100% reliable (you already know that it's a Glock huh) and very accurate. The G-30 is more accurate than I am. I have heard from a lot of Glock owners that say the G-30 is the most accurate of all the Glocks. Don't know how true that is but I can tell you mine is very accurate. You being a big guy will love carrying the G-30.

The G30 is still a bit chunky. Check out the size of the XDS 45. It is the standard in a small size 45acp.

The new Glock 30 S?....

Did you see the new Glock 30 S model?
It's a mix of the Glock 36 sub-compact & the larger 30 compact pistol.
It was co-designed & T&Eed by the elite detectives of the LAPD SIS(special investigations section).
The SIS used special run Kimber 1911s for a long time but went back to the standard Glock 21 & 30 for undercover work.
The Glock 30 S .45acp has been around for a year or so. They may be hard to find, NIB but it may suit your needs.

So far it looks like I'M late again,I've not even held a g30 or the 30s yet.If its any better than the g21 dont know if I can stand it. Another question are the 3rd or 4th gens. better than the older ones ? Thanks guys for the input so far. All views are welcome

I consider a good .40 round to be the equal to a similar/standard .45.
The Glock 27 is quite a bit smaller than a G30 while still holding 9+1 and remains very shootable.
If your used to a G21 you'll barely feel the G27.

I'm 6'2 but skinny. I have mostly carried full sized handguns. Settled on a Glock 19 for quite some time now. Before that I had a G30. It actually shoots nicer than my G21. I traded my G30 for an M&P-9. Only to get rid of one more .45 Had way too many and needed another 9mm.

My overall satisfaction with the G30 when I was a .45 for SD guy. Is a 10. Awesome gun. get it!!!

I'd get it,i hate the G21 but love the G30. Its my most carried concealed handgun,i'm 6' 195lbs to give a idea,i can easily conceal it iwb with shorts and a tshirt in S Florida. Only thing I don't love about it though is it is a bit thick compared to some others, shoots so good though its worth it.

I just purchased a Gen3 G30 back on June20 and I like it alot. I also wanted a smaller weapon for summer time carry. MY normal EDC is the S&WM&P 357Sig/40S&W.

I carried a G30 daily for some six years, OWB.

No trouble with either concealment or access, ever.
The G30 is a very accurate and precise .45ACP.

FWIW, as regards Glock .45ACP guns, I have two G30s, two G36s and a G21; among those, IME the G30 is clearly the single best balance between carry comfort, concealability, reliability, ease of use, accuracy and precision.

Now the older I get, the lighter I want my CCW gun to be, so I've gone to a G26 for the past seven years or so ;) ... but nonetheless, the G30 is still a great gun, perhaps the single best-overall Glock pistol.
