How many brass casings do you think are in 1 pound? I have someone offering to sell me 10 pounds of .45 casings for 1/lb. I'm not sure how many there are though.

Also anyone have any ideas for .38 casings? same deal but for 20 lbs...

I never weighed them but a buck a pound seems pretty reasonable, expically for the 38's. There's gots to be lots to the pound :D!

IIRC, there's about 7,000 grains/lb. I weighed a few .45 cases and my scale averaged them at around 90 grains. So 78 cases/lb. At $1/lb I'd say that's a really good price.

Just weighed one of each & they're both in the 64-65 grain ballpark ('course the .38 didn't have a primer in) ... at 7000 grains per pound, figure 107 or so per.

Have him clean & deprime first for the best deal. ;)

Is this new brass? Once-used? Or totally used up brass?

Seems to me that would make a difference as far as whether it's a good deal or not.
