FNS9 Muzzle Issue

Just purchased a new FNS9L. I shot my buddy's compact and had to get one... but bigger.

Anyways, I have yet to fire the gun and noticed what appears to be an issue with the muzzle. There's a portion where the bluing (or coating) is missing. It's like someone re-reamed part of the muzzle after the barrel had already been coated.

Anyone have any ideas? Have you seen this before? Should I be concerned?

Well I see the area that's uncovered, but I don't see any physical defect in that area. Looks fine to me. Anyone who can see that area has a lot more to worry about than a spot like that.

FN nitride treats their barrels... Its a heat treating and chemical alteration of the surface of the steel. Very hard and more slick than plain steel, with excellent corrosion resistance.

How that spot came to be, I can only speculate at best.

It shouldn't hurt anything, but if it bothers you, contact FN and ask them what they think.
