Haven't read much about the FNP pistols, but have shot a couple of them fairly extensively and found them to be high quality products.
The Competition model is a high-cap (15 round magazine) in .45 ACP, and while obviously not a small pistol it is manageable by shooters with average size hands or larger. Since it has a polymer frame weight is only 33 ounces empty. Despite the name it would make a fine home defense or open-carry duty pistol, though it's a bit large for concealed carry.
A neat feature of the Competition model is a removable top plate. Leave it in place to use the iron sights, or remove it to fit a red dot sight. A couple of mounting plates are provided to fit several popular red dot models. Sight can be removed and replaced without changing point of impact.
