This is the revolver I bought in FL and had shipped to VA.

Second time I took it out to shoot it, the pivot pin in the hand broke.

I also noted that the cam was worn badly though you can't really tell from the following photo.

So I made a new pivot pin and installed it in the hand by center punching the pin in the hand.

I also drove the cam out of the hammer by about a 16th inch and reshaped the face of it.

The revolver cycles very well now.

I did not heat treat the part because I have only a little knowledge of heat treating and I did not want to do more harm than good.

I'll let y'all know how it holds up.

Hammer Cam

The cam in my ASM .357 single action was getting worn. I turned one out of a piece of O-1 drill rod, heated it with a butane torch to a bright red-orange color, let it stay for 10-15 seconds to even out then quenched it in 30W motor oil and drew it in melted lead for an hour, then ground the cam shape on it and tapped it in. Just did it last week. I have no way to test the hardness, but if it doesn't hold up, I'll let you know. Works O. K. for now. Got the drill rod at Fastenal for about $5.00 for a 1/4 x36 inch rod. L.
