Currently, federal US Customs Inspectors start at GS-4/5. That's a starting salary of $ 19,616 - $ 21,947. It is very unlikely that the new federal domestic baggage checkers will get more. So, we can look forward to _federal_ baggage checkers who are worth all the $ 9 an hour or less they will be making.

I feel safer already!

At least with the high pay, they'll not likely be candidates for bribes or "passing just anyone" through security. :rolleyes:
