Federal champion casing to long?

I was shooting my g23 and i had a ftf, surprised me because this has never happened before. I erected the round and gave it a quick look and didn't see anything strange so i continued to shoot, i loaded it in my next mag and it happened again. Then i saw the end of the case had a ring around it, when i measured it it was about.031 longer than the rest of the ammo. No big deal as it didn't hurt anything but has anybody seem this before? I realize stuff gets past qc once awhile and better with target ammo than sd ammo.

I assume ftf means failure to fire rather than failure to feed. My guess is that same round might fire in a hammer fired pistol like the older S&W’s. The S&W’s have rather loose chambers and a hammered pistol firing pin has a much longer protrusion than that of a striker.

Striker fired pistols work fine provided the ammo is well within spec.

yes, actually it wouldnt go in to battery, the case was long enough that the barrel stoped it, i believe that is what marked up the end of the casing.
